December Update

DECEMBER UPDATE

I’m enjoying my break from chemo
and my blood counts have improved.
CT scans show tumors are stable, but
I want them completely removed!

Reciting, singing, volunteering,
are what I continue to do,
gardening, when energy permits,
baking and entertaining too.

No pity party for this gal,
that wouldn’t help me to heal.
I don’t dwell on side effects either
which improves the way I feel.

Creativity is endless,
I still write a poem every day.
Yes, I still have challenges
but I envision them going away.

I am not my diagnosis
nor an “average” statistic,
I’m on a healing journey from cancer
which, for me, is realistic.

Have a wonder-filled Christmas Season

OUT OF THE DARK

OUT OF THE DARK

OUT OF THE DARK

Out of darkness, into light
as I watch a lovely sunrise.
Scattered clouds make it interesting–
reflecting yellow, gold, pink on my skies.

Such is this cancer journey,
a dark diagnosis for me,
but each team player is doing their part
to ensure I will be cancer free.

Chemo treatments start in two days–
a blessing in disguise.
It will shrink the unwanted tumor
to a safe-surgery size.

Do I see this as entering darkness?
No, I’m heading for light.
When all this process is over,
I know I will be alright.

Yes, there’ll be clouds along my way,
trying to block my view,
but they’re only temporary,
as healing light shines through.

Faith, trust, and a good attitude
are keys to being cancer free,
along with loving, healing thoughts
from my extended family.
